Paulette Thenor-Louis, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away surround by her loved ones on September 8, 2024, at the age of 82. Born on October 7, 1941, in Croix-des-Bouquets, Haiti, Paulette immigrated to the United States in the 1970s, first settling in Brooklyn before making her home in Queens. Later, she moved to Ronkonkoma, Long Island, to live with her daughter and son-in-law. Paulette leaves behind her cherished daughter, Farrah, her devoted son-in-law, Carlos, as well as her precious granddaughter, Julianna. She is also survived by her sister Anne-Marie Varda Thenor-Louis and her four children, Marie Josée, Marlene, Wiener, and Monel; her brother Jean-Claude Thenor-Louis and his seven children, Ronide, Gregory, Joanne, Marco, Claudy (deceased), Gurline, and Jean-Marie; and her late sister Gisele Tassy and her four children, Chantale, Margarette, Frank Jr., and Harry. Additionally, her late brother Auguste Thenor-Louis and his two children, Muguette and Sandrine; her late brother Wesner Thenor-Louis and his four children, Nancy, Wesner Jr., Herve, and Johnny; her late brother Hubert Thenor-Louis and his two children, Ronald and Herve; and her late brother Yves Thenor-Louis. Paulette is also survived by her many treasured great-nieces and nephews and godchildren. Paulette had a distinguished career at Creedmoor Psychiatric Center, serving as an administrative specialist for over 20 years. She was recognized as Employee of the Month multiple times and forged lifelong friendships during her tenure. One of her other greatest accomplishments was becoming a US citizen. She wanted to be apart the country that she grew to love and that gave her so much opportunity! A woman of deep faith and love for family, Paulette was known for her warmth and generosity. She was a talented cook, often referred to as the "Haitian Martha Stewart," famous for her delicious rice and beans, griot, plantains, and lasagna, to name a few. Cooking was her way of bringing family together, and she took great joy in nourishing those she loved. She enjoyed watching baseball, especially her favorite team, the NY Mets, and was an avid fan of crossword puzzles, U.S. politics, and the game show Wheel of Fortune. Paulette was a devoted member of her Haitian community, and stayed connected through Radio Soleil. She loved attending church services, but when she couldn’t, she would watch mass on TV. Affectionately known as Taunte Paulette, Tati Popo, Popo, Mom, and Nana, she was a matriarch who provided love, guidance, and support to all. But the most precious tile she lovingly held outside of mom was Nana. She loved and cared for her granddaughter, Julianna, and now has become her guardian angel. Her sweet, elegant, and selfless spirit touched the lives of many, and her presence will be profoundly missed. Her legacy will continue through her daughter, granddaughter, and her loved ones not just in memory, but in the actions we take and the lives we touch every day.
